Well-known Waihi artist Mike Morgan is kicking off 2022 with an exhibition at Morrinsville’s Wallace Gallery. Reminiscing has been more than a year in the making and is Mike’s way of “acclimatising to the new normal” by celebrating the past 50 years of his art. “The worldwide upheavals of the previous 12 months have impacted us all in some way” says Mike. “We are all products of our pasts, now it’s up to us as individuals to choose our futures and whether we move forward in kindness or anger. I hope that my paintings help people smile and maybe look at things a different way.” Mike is a Waihi resident for more than a decade. He can often be seen cruising the Waikato and Bay of Plenty in his flaming Ford Coupe, Lucy, which also features in a number of his works. Meet Mike and view his latest works at the exhibition’s opening on January 14 at 10.30am.
